FAQ

Questions, answered.

Before it ships

When does Ramble come out?
January 2027, on the App Store, for iPhone.
Can you tell me when it is out?
Yes. Reserve your spot on the home page and we will email you once, on the day it opens. We keep your address and nothing else, and the list is deleted afterwards.

Your journal

Where are my recordings stored?
Only on your iPhone, encrypted. Your journal never reaches a server of ours, because there is no such server. The Privacy Policy goes through every detail.
Does transcription need the internet?
No. It runs on the device and works in airplane mode.
Can I fix a word the transcript got wrong?
Yes. Press and hold the word in the transcript and correct it. The audio itself is never touched.

Backup and restore

How do I back up my journal?
Settings → Backup. Export a file, or turn on automatic backup to your own iCloud and set a passphrase. Restoring happens on the same screen, and it adds to what is already there rather than replacing it.
I restored a backup but one note has no audio.
That note's audio file was not in the backup. Restore again from a complete backup; notes without their audio are skipped, so you never end up with an empty entry.
What if I lose my phone?
If you turned backup on, you restore from your own iCloud or from a file, with your own passphrase. If you never made one, there is no copy anywhere. That is the other side of having no servers, and it is the first thing worth setting up.

Your data

How do I delete everything?

Delete entries from the archive and they move to Recently Deleted, then clear that list to remove them for good. To wipe everything at once, delete the app: your recordings live in the app’s own storage, so removing it removes them with it.

If you turned on automatic backup, your backup file sits in your own iCloud and stays there until you delete it yourself. There is nothing on our side to delete, because there is nothing on our side.

Does anyone at Ramble hear my recordings?
No. There is no Ramble server for them to be heard on, and nothing you say leaves the phone.

Upgrades and purchases

How do I restore a purchase?
Settings → Restore purchases. Same Apple ID, any device.
What happens if I stop subscribing?
Everything you recorded stays, stays readable, and none of it is locked away. What turns off: premium themes, the alternate app icon, the weather strip, music insights, and the Pro-only tools. New entries return to the free tier’s limits. Entries you locked still open with Face ID.

Compare the tiers

What is the difference between Ramble Plus and Ramble Pro?

Free

Free is already the whole journal: recording, transcription, moods, categories, archive, search, the app lock and full backup and restore. Those are never taken away and never sold.

Ramble Plus

Plus completes the journal. It raises every ceiling and opens prompt packs, the weather of a moment, your music memory, a Face ID lock on a single entry, a readable export of everything, your month in feelings, and all 24 themes.

Ramble Pro

Pro is the only tier with no ceilings, and it adds the things that change how the app behaves: searching inside your own audio, searching by speaking, whisper mode while you record, locking a single photo, writing your own prompt packs, and the app icon studio.

The exact numbers are in the comparison table on the home page. Plus has high ceilings, but it has ceilings; only Pro removes them.
