What does it cost?
The app is free, and it stays useful for free: recording, transcription, search, moods and backup are all there without paying. Ramble Pro lifts the ceilings; you can pay monthly, yearly, or once. The price for your own country is in the pricing section above.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Recording and transcription both run on the phone, in airplane mode too. Only the optional song and weather tags look at the network, and if they fail the recording is never blocked.
Does it run on iPad or Apple Watch?
Not yet. Ramble is built for iPhone right now.
Your voice, your privacy
Does anyone at Ramble hear my recordings?
No. There is no Ramble server for them to be heard on. Nothing you say leaves the phone.
Is my voice used to train AI?
No. Speech-to-text is your iPhone’s own recogniser, running on the device. There is no model reading your journal and nothing is sent anywhere to be learned from. The patterns you see in Insights are counted, not generated.
Where do my recordings live?
On your iPhone, encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The key sits in the Keychain and never inside the file. Turn on the app lock and the key itself is locked behind Face ID, so the lock is cryptographic, not just a screen in the way.
What if I lose my phone?
If you turned backup on, you restore from your own iCloud or from a file, with your own passphrase. If you never made one, there is no copy anywhere. That is the other side of having no server. It is the first thing worth setting up.
How do I delete everything?
Delete entries in the app, then delete the app itself. If you made backups, remove those files in the Files app.
Day to day
How long can one recording be?
There is a limit on the free tier and a much longer one with Ramble Plus, and none at all with Ramble Pro. Both are in the comparison above. Two minutes before the limit you get a warning, and the recording is closed properly rather than dropped.
Which languages does transcription work in?
It uses your iPhone’s own speech recognition, so the supported languages are the ones iOS supports on your device. The app’s own interface ships in 20 languages.
Can I fix a word the transcription got wrong?
Yes. Long-press the word in the transcript and correct it. The audio itself is never touched. The recording stays exactly as you said it.
Do I need Apple Music to attach a song?
No. Songs come from Apple’s public catalogue. No account and no music subscription. Previews stream while you listen and are never saved to your device.
What if the app dies while I’m recording?
Ramble writes rolling checkpoints the whole time it records. On the next launch whatever survived is recovered as its own entry, so a crash costs you seconds rather than the whole recording.
How do I back up and restore?
Settings → Backup. Export a file, or turn on automatic backup to your own iCloud and set a passphrase. Restoring happens on the same screen, and it adds. It never overwrites what is already there.
What happens if I stop subscribing?
Everything you recorded stays, and stays readable, and none of it is taken away or locked. What changes: premium themes, fonts and the alternate app icon turn off, the weather strip and music insights turn off, and new entries return to the free tier’s limits. Your locked recordings still open.
